I'm attempting to reduce the gasoline smell  in the cockpit and removed the carbs since one has an epoxy repair in the accelerator pump bowl. There was some evidence of minor leakage there at the gasket but the JB Weld repair has held up well for five years.

The soft mounts, however, have totally failed in this time and this appears to have been letting fuel past the O-rings. I ordered a new set of thackery washers (steel spring washers) so they will never fail again.

My winter projects include finally installing the 107 cams so I replaced the 33mm chokes with 35mm in anticipation of sucking more fuel through the system.

Now I'm in search of some 104 pulleys...

Hi Garry,

Welcome! I remember at least one at least one article by you in the club magazine some years back. It's great to see you on the forum.

I have completed the work with pulleys from Mike Taylor.

All that's left to do is take it to a local shop for a co reading. I drilled the idle jets to .56mm and installed .7 Idle jet holders from Eurocarb. The engine runs up (under the load of a 2nd gear start) through the rpm range with no flat spots but there's no urgency. I think it's still a tad lean.

Thanks for the offer,

Kurt Housh

Hi Kurt,

it is nice to be welcomed to the forum, because my main interest is engines, I dip in and out of various clubs and forums; but because of the various Lotus models, I tend to only belong to one club / forum at any given time - It occured to me recently I was long overdue to look in on the JH community - while I've owned other Lotus models; I still have my 72 Healey - which is the car that originally got me into Lotus engines.

I am sure you'll enjoy your car with the new cam set up.

Regards

GARRY
