Is it an acceptable practice to weld up a small crack in the water jacket to save a block?

Yes but why did it crack in the first place, You need to grind a V to ensure penatration. and I recomend drilling at each end as this stops it continuing, Often as you weld it.

The repair was already present. After stripping the block, the telltale weld penetration bead was present at the base of the water jacket near the cylinder bore. Externally, but very faint, were the die-grinder marks.

The block is currently undergoing a dye penetrant test, but I was curious if the 907 was normally repaired in this manner.

Where are you located? I have a spare if you need it.

Thanks for above offer.

How often has anyone encountered this type of repair? Any potential problems? Did the factory repair casting flaws?

Thanks-
