No leaks anywhere, I have 80lbs of oil pressure at the filter (remote filter housing with electric sender unit there) but I have almost none at the spot on the cover where the tube to the gauge hooks up behind the starter.

Any ideas?

It isn't the hose to the gauge, that is fine. Take the hose off and start the engine, oil comes out, but not at a high pressure.

Oh, forgot to mention.

Gauge was reading fine, then I did an oil & filter change. No big deal, drained oil, changed filter, added new oil. Started engine, no leaks anywhere, just no pressure reading where the oil gauge tube attaches.

Stuck a small piece of wire in the hole on the plate to make sure nothing was clogging it. It was clean.

Just a wild opinion, was the filter an exact replacement for the previous filter?  The blockage seems to be at the filter.  Some filters have a check valve to prevent  leakback.  If the remote filter was hooked up backwards the check valve would go into  service and stop the flow.  Double check all of the inlets and outlets to be sure things are flowing in the right direction. 

I have been wrong before.   Dan

Yeah, exact replacement filter. Oil flows from the adapter plate to the filter, then to the oil cooler and back to the adapter plate. I cracked the fitting at the oil cooler and oil spewed out, so it is flowing past the filter.

Thanks for tossing out a possible solution though.

Mitch,

I would remove the fitting where the oil pressure tube attaches and be certain that there is nothing cloging that passage.  That spot in on the high pressure oil gallery and certainly should see maximum pump oil pressure...........

Any luck Mitch?

If the hole in the cover isn't clogged, there's a major blockage in the oil gallery. Since that's highly unlikely it must be something easier.

It was a defective oil filter.

So today it's off to Lime Rock for the weekend to see if the car does more than look pretty.
