Not sure if this is the right part of the board fror this posting, but: I'm starting on restoration of a 1974 5-speed, VIN 19299. I'm looking for the Union Jacks which were on the small motif placards on either wing which replaced the early J emblem. These are rectangular metal plates with a "J-H 5" on the upper part of them and a Union Jack on the lower part. Delta Motorsports have been able to supply the plates and the J-H 5 stickers, but not the Union Jacks. Does anyone have those Union Jack stickers? I haven't been able to find anything the right size (or sturdy enough). Thanks! Dave Thewlis

I got mine from Delta, but it took over 6 months and for what they are they were not cheap. you might want to try one of the Brit. parts suppliers if Delta cant get them anymore. Brett.

I agree about "not cheap" - the bits I did get were quite expensive. On the other hand I was able to get them - and if any of the three original elements cannot be found, I think this is the easiest to somehow replicate. Thanks for your response.

There are stick-on metal and screw-on cloisonne badges at triple-c. Lots of other fun British car swag too. They actually carry the JH cap. http://www.triple-c.com/Store_Detail.cfm?ID=109866&InfoID=2441

Thanks. Just spoke with them and ordered a pair of Union Jacks. They are a bit smaller than it looks as though the originals were, but are sturdy and enameled on metal - and not terribly expensive. Update on 9 December. Received the metal Union Jacks from CCC. They are smaller than the originals; leave about a 1/4 or 3/8 border around them when mounted on the placard. However they look good, and are sturdy. I'll try to get a pic and post it. Dave Thewlis Last edited on 12-09-2007 03:49 pm by dthewlis |

Here's a pic of the cloisonne union jack mounted on the JH-5 plackards on either wing. Sorry it took me so long. I think they look pretty good even if they are a little small for the space. Attachment: union-jack.jpg (Downloaded 153 times)

FYI, you've got it upside down. For anyone missing their badges, you can just get a magnetic Union Jack to cover the holes or to use until the correct replacement can be found.

Seriously, how can you tell I've got the Union Jacks upside-down? And can you provide the source for the magnetic Union Jacks?

The "J-H 5 speed" fender tags were only put on the East coast cars; the west coast kept the same "J" badge as the earlier 4 speeds.

wow--excellent website; I've never heard of them before but they have quite a few of some much "asked for" itmes, such as the ignition key.

Actually it's not the flag that's upside down, it's the whole layout of the badge. The flag should be on top and the JH-5 should be underneath. I have the (incorrect for my 1974 JH MkII but I like the way they look better) badges with the white "J" instead of the silver one, swiped from my 1972 bits car. They didn't do the white ones for long from what I know. Last edited on 08-15-2018 10:47 pm by answerman |

When I said it was upside down I meant the badge not the Union Jack, as answerman pointed out the JH-5 should be on the bottom. Moss Motors carries the magnetic Union Jack.
