Does anyone know which of the luggage racks can be used on the JH rear "boot" lid to increase the carrying capacity of the car for touring. Also where to purchase, etc. Thanks in advance...Bob

It's been quite a while since anyone last asked about a luggage rack, so now it's my turn. And I did check with Bruce Madden - who hasn't any and suggested I post on this forum. Anybody out there have a spare luggage rack they are willing to part with, esp. if it's in usable condition as-is?

Thanks,

Dave

I might have one next spring. Obviously, don't plan around it, but my parts car has a boot lid without a rack (Ms J came with one) and I may look at it both ways to see if I like her better with or without once the panel swap and paint is complete. At this point I am leaning toward keeping it, but I've been known to change my mind.

Thanks. Not having much luck looking although may have found one which would need to be replated ($$$). If I do get one I will post a follow-up, otherwise I'm interested. BTW thanks for the speaker grilles, they look great.

You might want to give British Masters a call they have a bunch of used JH stuff and not all of it is listed on there e-bay web site. good luck.

Maybe one of these might fit as well.

Thanks, Brett. I tried British Masters but they only had an old MG Midget luggage rack, pretty beat up, and I asked about one for a JH so presumably that was all they had.

Checked the Moss Motors link, doesn't really look like any of them would fit, perhaps not surprising given the cars they were designed for had very different boots.

Anyhow so far no luck.

Has anyone had any experience with this outfit: http://www.classicluggageracks.com/. They are British and ship internationally. They offer their "classic" or "sports" styles for the Jensen Healey. The 35" classic rack is about 16" deep.

The rack most of us have seen is about 36"x24" measured between the mounting bolts, so it is a bit deeper, but the classic is the closest thing I've seen so far. Not cheap; price is $269 for the 35" classic plus $69.96 shipping.  Comes with all mounting hardware, (polished stainless/inox).  But the option seems to exist and new racks at Moss etc. for other cars are often not all that much less expensive.

I have one in storage. I'll get it out and post pictures later today. Can't remember what condition it's in though.

Here's some pictures. As you can see there's a little staining where the hardware was attached. It could use a polish. Let me know if you want it.

Seems only fair to note the outcome. It turned out that Delta Motorsports actually had two luggage racks (I'd asked in previous years and they didn't in previous years). Ordered one and it was in reasonable condition. However the rack Bogie07 offered was in really nice condition so I've bought it and will either send the Delta rack back or keep it for the next time somebody needs one.

In the meantime, Classic Luggage Racks in the U.K. http://www.classicluggageracks.com/ also said they would be willing to do a custom rack to match the AMCO rack; it would probably cost on the order of $300 plus close to $100 shipping; they also offer their "classic" series for the Jensen Healey.

P.S. I had not known the provenance of the luggage racks. Delta told me it was an AMCO rack originally offered for the TR-6 (and the third such TR-6 rack) and was a dealer option in the U.S., at least in California.

Thanks.  As it happens I actually wound up with two of the model dealers in California were installing as a post-sale dealer option.  One is on my car, and the other is in storage in case anybody else suddenly needs a luggage rack.

It's your car, your choice of course but I can't see cluttering that gorgeous, expansive rear deck with a luggage rack. I had one on my TR7, it was difficult to clean and wax under, it was one more thing to polish and I never used it. Also you'll have to put holes in your deck lid.

Good point noomg. In my case my first JH (the first one I ever saw actually) had a luggage rack, so it always seemed a natural part of the automobile. So when I got my second JH which didn't have one, it always looked incomplete somehow. And I found the rack on my first car really useful, so I finally did find a rack for new car.
