please do not buy these "cheap" bearings that are "on sa;e" at Rockauto. I have had to throw away brand new ones that were grinding already/making noise. Please use only high quality ones such as SKF, Timken, etc. You are literally "taking your life in your hands" if you use them Toggle Brake & Wheel Hub Toggle Wheel Bearing AUTO EXTRA A1 Info Front Outer; TAPER BEARING SET INCLUDES BEARING & RACE [Wholesaler Closeout -- 30 Day Warranty] < Part image > $1.84 1 Add to Cart AUTO EXTRA A4 Info Front Inner; TAPER BEARING SET INCLUDES BEARING & RACE [Wholesaler Closeout -- 30 Day Warranty] < Part image > $1.96 1 Add to Cart Toggle Cooling System Toggle Radiator Hose |

Bruce, This problem has come up before not just on this site, not just on other LBC sites but on numerous classic car sites. There was a time when parts were parts but no more the markets are flooded with cheap Asian parts the worst being Chinese. Before I was aware of this I installed a set of wheel bearings on my '67 El Camino. They failed in 1,500mi. Yes that's fifteen HUNDRED miles! And yes they were Chinese bearings. Nowadays I'm careful when sourcing parts to make sure they are brand names. And of course the quality parts will be more expensive but it's a price I'm willing to pay. |

Hopefully, more "educated" owners will heed your advice. |

On the bright side of late I've noticed a trend where some suppliers are beginning to list the difference between parts. The OEM parts will be listed as "premium" or the brand name given like Girling or TRW. The Asian or Indian parts will be listed as "aftermarket" and will be significantly cheaper than the name brands. Some guys I've talked to actually like the cheapo parts but as for me I'll pay extra to get OEM parts. |
