Hi, Aftar I have changed my engine I am experience problems with my Generator. As I just wanted to turn my new engine with the starter, I connected the 3 cables to the generator and also the + cable to the starter solenoid ( I forgot the big ground cable to the engine block) I connected the battery and just applied + to activate the starter solenoid, and the engine turned nicely. However after a few seconds smoke came from the generator. I stopped and took of the generator again , Meassuring the resistance between the 2 plus terminals on the generator and the generator housing gave me a reading of 0 ohms. and I guess that this is the reason for the smoke . Could it happen that I have damaged the generator trying to turn the engine without the big ground cable connected to the engine block. ( the generator worked fine befor I took it of?) Can somebody tell me what to measure between the three terminals and ground on the generator ? BR Kim |
