Anyone know if one could swap out the stock mechanical type oil gauge with a new electronic type? I want to eliminate the oil tube.

Sure. Get the proper size gauge for the dash, proper type of sender for the gauge and make sure the sender unit has the right threads. If the threads can not be matched then you will need to make an adapter to thread the gauge into.

You need these by the looks of it: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Product.do?method=view&n=1774&p=179309&c=215&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Base&utm_campaign=Gauge%20Sender%20Units&gclid=CJ-Pk9TX9rQCFSbMtAodkjoA4Q http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/gauges-auxiliary/smiths-classic-electrical-oil-pressure-gauge I hope there's a supplier in the US! So, thanks for the replies. Let me rephrase my question; Has anyone out there in JHPS land successfully converted to an electronic fuel pressure gauge and can he/she share their particular experience please? I am thinking that there may not be enough space available to install the sending unit and I would like to avoid the trial and error process. Thanks

Why do you want to eliminate the oil tube? It's just another maintenence item that should be replaced every 20 years.
