On my 75 JH the temp gauge reads normal (middle) until I accelerate and get on it. At that point the temp goes up very quickly and then gradually comes down at a constant RPM. The reading is normal provided the RPM is constant. I read about the voltage stabilizer, is this the problem? Thanks for your advice. Pete Last edited on 04-02-2008 07:25 pm by aeropete |

Pete, My initial thought is your alternator is developing higher voltage with RPM (i.e. the voltage regulator in the alternator may be failing); and the higher voltage is equating to higher temp readings. The voltage regulator for the gauges is a fairly common failure point, however, typical indication is that the fuel and temp gauges are always skewed too far right. The dynamic nature of your failure suggests maybe both regulators are on the fritz. Judson
