Hi does anyone know the true extent of modification needed to fit the engine and box from a lotus excel 2.2. It is to fit in a right hand drive JH and having looked , I wonder if the steering rack is the main problem. Thanks Vern

Vern, Garry Kemp did the RHD 912 swap years ago and was my inspiration for the 910/907 hybrid I put into 13492. My LHD modifications were limited to some minor cutting of the front cross-member. As I recall Garry's RHD modifications were quite a bit more intensive. An easier solution would be to transplant the 912 bits into your 907 and end up with an engine similar to Erik Harkes (907 bottom end 912 top end). The 912 (toyota W58/57) transmission will bolt up just fine to the 907 block (sans 2 bolts). Judson

Hi Judson, I am fitting a 912 motor in our 73 Mark 1 and I was wondering if you would be willing to share any details/photos you might have regarding the minor cutting/modification of the cross member to accomodate this motor. I have the front suspension all in pieces at present to clean, repaint and fit new bushes prior to re plumbing and fitting the motor. Last weekend I had a fun packed weekend scraping off most of the bitumen coating a previous owner had sprayed all over the engine bay, the original paint cleans up well and looks in remarkably good condition, probably in part due to the ample volumes of oil the engine had spread around after the rope crank seal started leaking before we bought this car. Any help at all would be much appreciated Regards Mark
