Has anyone rebuilt a 4 speed? We removed my daughter's 4 speed that was jumping out of gear all the time and replaced it. I am thinking about rebuilding this one that was giving trouble. I have never done a transmission rebuild. Anyone with any ideas as to the rebuild? I am think it is mostly the snychros...but would like some comments. Thanks.

Hello Frank, I have done two now by combining parts from several. The manual is actually quite good and the project is straight forward. The PROBLEM IS PARTS. In my experience I have found the "shift selector forks" almost always worn to the point of allowing popping out of gear. UNFORTUNATELY, they are very hard to come by and rediculously expensive. Bruce Madden was the last source that I know of. You may be better off finding spare transmissions to cobble for parts. Jim
