Hi All, Purchased a 74 JH that had been used for SOLO 2 racing, with the rear end spooled. Have the bits to convert back to regular dif. A competent local mechanic will do the work (beyond me), but he does not have the correct specs to set up properly (lash, etc.). Does anyone have the setup specs for the diff?, and/or can someone perhaps have a direct conversation with him to walk through>>> Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all! Tony Reis. PS Nice to be a JH owner again, after a 20+ year absence!

Hi, I've got a Jensen Healey I'm trying to race and the rear end is welded. I like it fine so far, but, if you do indeed have machined spool bits in your differential I might like to buy them off of you. There is no difference in how the car drives, welded or spool, both allow no differential wheel turning. However, if I had a spool I could remove it when I wanted an open diff, and put it back in when I wanted the locked action. Has he looked at it yet to verify that it is really a spool and not simply welded spider gears? Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron, The previous owner assured me it was spooled, but??? No the mechanic has not opened it up to see what's in there. If it is spooled, I will gladly contact you and let you know what condition the pieces are in. We can go from there. Do you know of anyone that has the setup specs for the standard diff? The car goes in later this week. Thanks! Tony.

I do not have them for a JH, but, standard lash and pattern settings will probably suffice - it is a Vaxhaul rear end. Off the top of my head I don't remember rough settings as I've not set one up in 10 years, but have your man set it up as a regular differential. I wonder if that thing will turn out to be welded, my guess is yes but you never know. Ron

Thanks Ron, that's where he was going to go with it. I will let you know either way on the spooled/welded thing. Tony.
