My Delco alternator seems to have gone south. I'm having a little trouble finding one locally. I found a Bosch that claims to be a replacement, but the amps are 43 and mine seems to be 35. Existing part# 7982574 E2 NEG DN460 12V 53A Does anyone have experience with the Bosch replacement? Any advice is appreciated. Dave 12466

Buy a GM single wire, bend up a bracket, and never look back.

I have replaced a Lucas with a Bosch and it fit the existing brackets and plugs exactly. The more amps the better.

I just ordered an adapter bracket from nationsautoelectric.com that's supposed to adapt a GM alternator to the "dual ear" type that the Jensen has. Will let you know how it turns out. The bracket is pricey at $30 but if you want the convenience of a cheap, easy to find alternator and are not into fabbing it might be an option. Last edited on 07-03-2012 05:28 am by Mason Jones |

17798 had the Bosch alternator on it when I got it. It had been recently installed and hasn't given any problems in 10,000 plus miles and 4 years.
