If my car had different cam(s) than what was originally installed in a 907, is there a way to tell? For instance is a 107 or 104 marked as such? If so, where would I look for the stampings? To actually try and determine with a caliper, what is the procedure? Thanks

The 107 is stamped 777777777 and the 104 444444444 all the way around and can easily be read just behind the pulley. To measure, A: check the diameter at right angles to the lobe. B: measure the diameter including the lobe. Subtract A from B and if the result is .340 you have a stock cam. .378 is a 107 and .410 is the 104. Kurt

I just thought of the easy, and humorous, way to check your cams: If you get 24-27mpg you have the stock cams. If you get 17mpg you have the 107 cam. Anyone have mileage results from the 104 cam? Kurt

I'm getting at least 25mpg with a pair of 107s and a stock bottom end and I've heard a few clubbers with 2.2 liters and 104s reporting they are getting close to that. Of course, if the camshafts are reground, you won't see any obvious markings on them to indicate what the profile is.

Thanks Greg, I just re-checked my mileage while attending the West Coast Nationals and got 22.6 on the freeway at a steady 65 to 70 mph. I'm sure if I cruised at 55 to 60 mph I could do better. In spirited driving on the back roads I got 17.4 mpg. When I'm home, all of my driving is short trips and back roads so 17 is a real world figure for me. Kurt
