10885: My speedometer has not worked as long as I have owned this car. I have replaced the cable because after unhooking from the dash, I noticed that it does not spin when car is moving. Is there something inside the Getrag transmission that could cause this symptom? HELP!

Brian, Have you tried disconnecting it at the transmission? It's very likely that the internal cable has snapped somewhere along the assembly. The easiest way to check this is to disconnect the cable at the speedometer & tranmission, have someone watch the speedometer end while you spin the transmission end. I find in a lot of old LBCs that the cable tends to snap right where it connects to the transmission. Jody

The cable is now brand new but, did not fix the problem. Maybe there is something preventing the cable from inserting properly into transmission? I did loosen the set screw & put cable in till seemed to seat properly.
