I'm about to mount my exhaust manifold to my rebuilt engine and have two types of gasket: 1) a normal looking composition type supplied by a J-H specialist 2) a thin metal one supplied by my Lotus specialist The engine is high compression (11:1) with 104 cams. Which is the best one to use?

Either will work just fine, If I had both in front of me, I might go with the fancy Lotus gaskets. To help prevent any possible leakage, I'd recommend using a very small amount of hi temp Copper Coat gasket sealer or Aviation Form-a-gasket sealer on both sides.
