JH 16863, 1974 Mk II, original engine, 4 spd., small bumpers, originally tangerine, black interior, bone stock right down to the Strombergs, carbon cannister, muffler air cleaner and non-working Jensen Healey 8-track player.  Local Wisconsin circuit court judge bought it new in '74, kept it until '99 although he lost both legs to diabetes in the mid-90's, so he must have loved this car.  Second owner bought it in '99 with 40K miles, fixed the brakes and oil leaks, replaced the cambelts, patched the floor, resprayed it red, replaced the black top and interior, took it to the Iola car show in 2000, then stashed it away for the next nine years.  I bought it in April '09 with 43K miles for $3500, dealt with some bad gas issues, came in on the tow truck twice in the first two weeks, replaced fuel pump and filter, replaced ignition system with stock components, Strombergs are still ragged but I've been driving the bejeebers out of it ever since.  Car has spent its entire life in little Sparta, Wisconsin.  I also own a '68 912 and I think the JH handles better, it's certainly more comfortable.  Although the 912 is instantly recognizable, the JH flies under the radar, and even car people mistake it for a Spitfire or Fiat 124.  When I tell them it's a Jensen Healey, they correct me that I mean Austin Healey.  But you've all been there before....

I found 19269 at a storage unit in Rockford, Il.  Bought her in Feb 2010 and have been bringing her back to life ever since.  The build date is 11/12/74 with motor #B74119980 and currently have her at Rock Island Arsenal auto craft shop.  19269 came with black paint and tan interior, 5 speed and lots of rust.  I have started at the front and have worked my way to the back replacing everything from bushings, springs, shocks, nuts and bolts, replaced top end on motor, pans, rockers and the list goes on.   Hopefully through this forum I can find out where 19269 has been.  Thanks to everyone from here for all the help.

Chassis Number 19492
Engine #B74 11 10352
White with black interior
Manufacture date 12-23-1974

I purchased this non-running JH in June of 2003 in Brentwood, TN. Previous owner had brought it from California.  The body was in great shape.  I've done little with the body but have rebuilt the engine and suspension.  Replaces the carpet and top and recovered the seats.
It now has approx. 150,000 on the car and about 35,000 since the rebuild.

Didn't someone have an online database (or reference) where you could find out the data via VIN? Or am I hallucinating?
If there IS one, maybe we ought to have its URL prominently posted in some kind of "sticky" note.

Not for this data. You need Richard Calver's book A History of Jensen: The Chassis Data. It's described here: http://www.richardcalver.com/jensendatabook.htm

The point of this thread is to provide Richard Calver and anyone else interested with some data. When someone asks, "How many Jensen Healeys are still in existance?", this data will be valuable in finding the answer.

The numbers from spare engines and parts cars confirm the demise of a car so we don't have to guess and put it in the unknown catagory.

I have owned vin #15569 since 1976.  It's in good condition, engine #B74015712, and has 56K miles on the speedometer.  The speedometer was only broken a year or two.

I also have a spare engine, #B74088777, and the transmission from that vehicle.  I think it was vin #17874.

I am located in Millersport Ohio.
