I found 19269 at a storage unit in Rockford, Il. Bought her in Feb 2010 and have been bringing her back to life ever since. The build date is 11/12/74 with motor #B74119980 and currently have her at Rock Island Arsenal auto craft shop. 19269 came with black paint and tan interior, 5 speed and lots of rust. I have started at the front and have worked my way to the back replacing everything from bushings, springs, shocks, nuts and bolts, replaced top end on motor, pans, rockers and the list goes on. Hopefully through this forum I can find out where 19269 has been. Thanks to everyone from here for all the help.

Thanks Mike appreciate the info. I can't seem to find replacement springs for the Lockheed brake set up thats why I may have to go to the disc set up. Thanks again.

Which springs are you missing? I have a Lockheed setup on the bench. I could take the springs to my parts house and try to match them. Kurt

Hey Kurt, I'm looking for the LH & RH tension and pull off springs. I have been looking for the last couple of weeks and can't seem to find a good match. Either the spring tension is off or the re-fab won't work. 19269 is winding down and as always it's the little big things that take the longest. thanks for the help Gus

So you have some springs to compare to? The springs I'm using were rusty but cleaned up well on the wire wheel. Kurt Several thoughts: There must be some other cars out there that have Lockheed drum brakes in the same size. The '75- '79 MG Midget with 9" brakes look right in the drawings but I can't confirm they are Lockheed or locate a spring kit for them. Spring manufacturers are willing to do short runs. Hi Gus, I sent you a message. I am now 90% sure the '75 to '79 MG Midget springs won't fit. My local parts house (now owned by Napa) recently loaded two dumpsters with Lucas parts and disposed of them. The local LBC mechanics weren't even informed before it happened. Okay Folks here's one for you, while securing the timing belt locknut the timing belt bolt started coming out of the block, yeah that's probably a bad thing. Anyone have a solution? It seems the whole plug and bolt is separating from the block............jeezzz

clean it and free up the nut while out, check the bearing to, put it back in with a dab of lock-tite. Brett

Thanks Brett, The problem really isnt the nut, the bolt and aluminum plug inside the block is coming out. I just did a top end because the timing belt broke and crushed some valves so i feel i may have overtightened the retaining nut when i put it back together. I dont want to redo the motor again, that would cause a significant emotional event.......

Is it actually the bolt? The tightening nut will come out of the block with the bearings and the tensioner. If teh stud it self is come out you can try to tighten it with a jam nut or it may need to be helicoiled or retapped. Worse case scenerio. Call if you need to 563-322-2854 Ron Mau
