Some time back, when I was trying -- unsuccessfully, alas -- to find replacements for the lug nuts used on the JH, I drew up the attached sketch. Now that we have the capability to add graphics to our posts, I thought it would be of some small interest. Attachment: Lug nut drawing.gif (Downloaded 378 times)

Why not just go to a machine shop and have a few hundred made. In lots that large I'd bet they would only be $2-3 each and could easily be sold for more than that to cover tooling and process costs. R

Two reasons: first, I only needed a couple for spares, and second, I bought a set of four for slightly less than the price you mention. I did make a couple of educated guesses at labor and materials charges, and came up with somewhere around $3.50 a pop. Of course, these were California prices. Now if the JHPS were to come up with stainless steel lug nuts in the original pattern, that would be interesting, particularly if they also came up with a variation that took a more modern wheel stud. Hmm....

I was thinking of doing it myself as it could be done cheaply in NC with a couple of fab shops I use. But, then Judson sold me his old Panasports so I don't have to fool with them - problem solved! I only have to use the nappy old ally nuts if I bolt the old wheels with rain tires on. Still might ask the shop I use and get a quote. I'd be willing to sell them through a PayPal type deal if folks would allow me to clear say $5-$10 for a set of 16 of them. R

Let's see... 16 lug nuts at $3 each is $48. Adding $8 for shipping and $10 for profit to balance the costs of the investment, this works out to a delivered price of $66 a set. As competition, Delta Motorsports, if I've read their price sheet correctly, charges $10 a lug nut, while on eBay a set of 4 lug nuts might typically go for $10-20. Plus shipping, in both cases. So the pricing we're talking about is quite competitive. I'm presuming that the nuts, if aluminum, would be clear alodyned or anodized for protection against weather and environment. To add value, at additional cost, one could color anodize them instead and turn bland into beauty. Gold nuts on abrasive-blasted wheels would be quite attractive, for example. And if one could stamp "Jensen Healey" into the outer surface of the hex head, that'd be luxurious indeed.... :^}

This is fairly late in this string but I found replacement lug nuts at the auto parts store. The rims are probably not originals but have been with the car for 30 or so years according to the previous owner. If there is still a need I can track down the packaging. Steve

that picture of the rim looks like a BMW wheel I once saw on a 83 honda civic. I have a friend that owns flowers CNC machine here in port coquitlam, BC. Anything you want could be fabbed up. Something trick like tuner lugnuts that look like the originals or simply the originals to begin with. The sky is the limit when dealing with any automotive venture. I own 3 fox mustangs and I constantly ask myself how much do I love this car? just listen cause your wallet will answer.
