A few Jensen Healeys had dealer installed Dunlop wire wheels. These original wheels had long, thin steel lug nuts that were quite unique and that are impossible to find. Way back when, a club member machined up a number of sets and was selling them. Does anyone remember who or have a contact for him? Thanks, Greg

I believe this is one, but I'm not certain. I can say it is an actual wire wheel on an actual Jensen Healey. I don't think it's the more common aftermarket Dayton wire wheel, so that leaves the original Dunlop. I think it's a cool look, I wouldn't mind a set of these. Another club member was asking me about those lug nuts, but it's been so long, I've forgotten who was selling them or they are even around any more.

Here is a pic of the Dunlops in question. They came with my GT when I bought it. They do have those long bolts you are talking about. I will ask around and see if someone in Chicago has them. Joseph Mazurk Chicago, IL Attachment: J2003 # 25 My GT.jpg (Downloaded 96 times)

I was the guy (or one of the guys) that asked you about the lug nuts, Greg. I did purchase a set of the lug nuts that Harry Weddington (a member at the time) had specially machined for these wheels and they work very well. I don't know how to get in touch with him anymore, but maybe the name alone is sufficient (I'm searching my e-mail for an address for him and will post if I find it). Attached is a picture of the new lug nuts on the dunlop wire wheel on my car and a comparison shot of the old allen head nut (very prone to cracking and then being impossible to remove) next to the hex head new nut. Hope that helps! Dave BTW -- if anyone knows where to get one of the octagonal caps, I'm missing one! Attachment: wirelugs.jpg (Downloaded 146 times) Last edited on 07-11-2005 12:03 am by dlg |

Googled the name and found harry.e.weddington@usace.army.mil I'm 99% sure this is the same e-mail address I used long ago.
