I am contemplating purchasing a wood dash replacement from Madera Concepts. I am sure someone has used them out there. Is the quality as good as said to be? Is installation difficult? What wood grain seems to look best in the car? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

Jim, I just ordered the Carpathian Elm Burl on March 28. As of yet it hasn't shipped from Madera. I was told it would ship via DHL 2nd day on Wed. Tony said it would ship today and he'd pay for next day. That's fair to me. I did have them custom cut the radio opening to accept a replacement radio so that may explain the delay. I've got the transmission tunnel and radio console's out. I'll keep you posted when I receive them. I am sure others have installed these. I'd also appreciate any advice. John

I put the carpathian elm burl in my car and I get a lot of compliments on how it looks.  I have even seen people bring other people over to my car at shows just to point out how nice the wood is on the dash. I like their wood so much that I sent them my wife's TR6 dash to have the refinish it.  I think I have a picture of it installed at work, so I can post that next week if you'd like.

My car was a late car and came with wood originally so putting it in was quite straight forward, I'm not sure how it would be putting it in an early car that just had the vinyl wood grain stickers.

I've seen Madera replacement dashes in Lotus Elans and Europas.   The finished product was gorgeous.

However, I have no idea how perfect the fit was out of the box or if a lot of fettling was required to make them fit.   Nor can I say if the materials were structurally sound  (the facia panel is a structural member in Elans and Europas).

So without comment on functional quality...  they were just plain gorgeous.
