Lads: My dash is pretty much back together, but I am unable to determine how to mount the catch for the glove box. The catch is item 11 in the attached image. There are two holes present in the dash for #10 fine thread screws, but the holes do not align with the mounting holes in the catch. Additionally, the holes in the catch are rather odd. One is readily accessible, but the other is occluded by part of the catch itself. Does the catch mount with a single screw? I can drill holes in the dash and use sheet metal screws, but before I resort to ghetto engineering, I thought I would ask for advice. How does the silly thing attach to the dash? Vance, When I reassembled my dash I don't recall this being a problem it simply went back in the way it came out. Yes, the hole location is rather odd but then it is British. I'm not sure why the original holes don't line up with the bracket holes, is it possible additional holes were drilled by a PO sometime in the past? Was the bracket in place when you disassembled the dash? I had a number of issues while reassembling the dash but that latch wasn't one of them. I'd say if that's your biggest problem then things must be going pretty smoothly. Just curious where did you get your degree in Ghetto Engineering and is it a B.S. or M.S.? |

When I reinstalled the dash in my car I didn't have any issues with the threads to mount the catch, but I did end up elongating the holes so I could shift it side to side to best align it with the latch. Not sure why Jensen would have placed one of the screws so that it is partially blocked, but mine was the same. |
