Hey race car guys: Where is the best place to mount a roll bar? I can't find anything heavy enuf to instill confidence. Tom

All possible mounting spots are in sheet metal. The proper way to mount the rollbar is with 1/8" plates on the underside to spread the load as wide as possible.

Check your sacntioning body for specific rules. Me thinks SCCA may require 3/16" backing-plates. Alternatively, weld-in 3/16" stock and create a 'box' between the floorboard and vertical surfaces. This will provide ample distribution area.
