I understand your frustration. When I put in my Pertronix ignitor and coil, I felt the same way. You might want to take a look at my web site which chronicles my installation. It may give you some clues. One thing I had to do is increase the spark plug gap in order to get a good spark, and to get all cylinders firing, but I had put in a high tension coil at the same time.
