Ok lads, What’s been going on with Rusty? The shifting on the Getrag was absolutely horrendous, but after doing some research on line, I drilled out the shift coupling and replaced the very worn 6mm dowels with 0.25” dowels and the shifting is now perfect. I have installed and plumbed the carbs, and worked through many electrical problems. A taillight needed a new socket, the radio would not come on when the key was in the accessory position, and the starter would not spin. The latter problem took some work to track down, but turned out to be a dead seat belt module. For one year congress in their collective wisdom decided that cars should not start unless the seat belts were fastened. There is a small box under the dash that controls this. Bypassing it allows the starter to spin. So why not leave it bypassed, you ask? Because I was an abused child and cannot leave well enough alone. I am sourcing a replacement at the moment. The hazard flashers needed a new flasher, the original one was dead. I have installed the new soft top and top cover, and replaced my reproduction gauges with genuine Smiths. It turns out the reproduction fuel gauge is incompatible with the standard fuel sender, and the gauge supplier would not answer my queries about which oil pressure sender to use. That pretty much ruled out the use of reproduction gauges. <sigh> I need to get oil pressure and the I can try to start the motor. When I get the seat belt module working (or give up and bypass it) I will go for oil pressure and startup. Vance
