If they are still using the original type seal, your are driving with what we called the "LIVING TIME BOMB". The original seal had a carbon disc embedded in the rubber seal. Under ideal circumstances, the disc would wear the nose of the steel impeller and you would observe a slight drip/leak from the weep hole on the bottom of the housing. But what USUALLY happened was the roughened steel nose would twist the seal and rupture it, causing a "flood", and possible engine damage if not found immediately. Two later seal configurations were made with the last one, called 3G(Generation) allowing this not to occur, plus worn housings(expensive) could be reused. Well... I have attached a photo. There is nothing touching the nose of the impeller at all. The side of the seal facing the impeller is steel (?) but there is a 2-3mm gap between the seal and the impeller. Perhaps I have the 3G seal, dunno. It would seem Martin Robey has dealt with the problem, or the old style seal is no longer available. It was difficult to get the lighting and angle correct, but you can see the washer? seal? spacer? in there separate from the impeller nose. Vance Attachment: IMG_0641[1].JPG (Downloaded 15 times)
